| So, many of you have already been kicking around this sweet co-op idea, found on: http://www.quietspeculation.com/2011/09/horde-magic-a-new-way-to-play-magic-and-survive-zombie-invasions/Basically, your "Survivor" EDH decks fight a pile of 100 hasty zombies. This is the most excited I've been about magic since Innistrad was spoiled. Anyway, here is a very rough draft I pulled together with an hour and no sleeves: TOKENS 55 Zombie tokens 5 Zombie Giant tokens OTHER ZOMBIES (1 each) Phyrexian Crusader Lightning Reaver Order of Yawgmoth Zombie Goliath Jhessian Zombies Scourge Servant Blackcleave Goblin Putrid Leech Toxic Nim Rotting Fensnake Warpath Ghoul Abattoir Ghoul Zombie Outlander Shambling Remains Grixis Grimblade Nested Ghoul Vedalken Ghoul Sanguine Guard Escaped Null Cemetery Reaper OTHER CREATURES Zombie Master Chancellor of the Annex Ulamog's Crusher OTHER SPELLS Choke Hideous Visage Levitation Titanic Ultimatum Destructive Force Moan of the Unhallowed Tempest of Light Overwhelming Stampede Creeping Corrosion Asceticism Zealous Persecution Intangible Virtue Overrun Painful Quandary Smallpox Triumph of the Hordes Forsaken Wastes COMMANDER (see below) Zombie Master PROPOSED HOUSE RULE: Zombies have a commander; needs to be a creature, doesn't have to be legendary (for now). Survivors get opening turns equal to that creature's CMC. That commander is indestructible. If it would be put anywhere, it is put (back) onto the battlefield. I welcome your thoughts. It already seems a bit overpowered to "Survive" against... | |

| Jake and I (as well as a spattering of Farnam and Abernathy) have been playtesting a horde deck, and it is a lot of fun. I can bring it in tomorrow if anyone wants to play against it. It's actually really hard! We have some premade survivor decks, but they're 60 card singleton decks with no commanders. They're really flavorful for battling zom zoms though. | |

| I really like playing against it. It is really fun, even when the Zoms get like 13 of them out on one turn. What do you think about putting a Boss Zombie in? Something like the following:
Akeurn, the Living Dead 1BB
Legendary Boss Creature- Zombie
Boss ( Indestructable, Hexproof, Damage dealt to this creature is dealt in the form of -0/-1 counters)
When Akeurn, the Living Dead enters the battlefield, put X +/+1 counters on it where X is twice the number of zombie cards in your graveyard.

| I like the boss idea; some "really" permanent permanent (commander). Always hard to know how much one-sidedness of zombie win is mismatch, and how much is "natural variation". I do like it in the EDH house as a variant. What do folks think of rolling a twelve sided die to see how many "supplies" each survivor brings to the camp, then add them? Other appropriate hordes? Perhaps "300 Trojan soldiers"? Goblins? (Were)wolves? Seems like the Commander-Survivor decks should also be tribal (like humans, elves, angels, merfolk, or vampires...)...? Did I mention I like this variant? | |
