| My love of commander, i think i need to scale back! My problem right now is too many decks, i'm trying to limit how many i bring to Magic, but it never works out. So i thought i would get an idea of what everyone thinks is an appropriate number of decks to have.
Current number of decks: 17

| Faas, i think you definitely should try focusing your deckbuilding down to a handful of decks for a while. The one thing i've noticed is the same basic engine gets spread between the decks that play certain color combinations. The Progenitus deck was actually really great today because it played a bunch of stuff I honestly just haven't seen you play, either in a while or ever. It is interesting that you'd make this statement today, after what I felt was a pretty good couple of games. I don't know, that's my opinion on the whole thing. | |

| Just to clarify, i'm not done playing EDH, it has just lost some of its magic. (pun intended)
It seems many people stick to the short end of the stick here. I do have some favorite decks, and some decks i like a lot but never play. I think i just need to suck it up and deconstruct since i can always make new ones and i'm stifling my creativity by not rotating more.

| I have eight commander decks at the moment
1 ) Drana, Kalastria Highborn/Oona, Queen of the Fae/Geth, Lord of the Vault/Maga, Traitor to Mortals [B] 2 ) Sharuum, the Hedgemon [W/U/B] 3 ) Azami, Lady of Scrolls [U] 4 ) Wydwen, the Biting Gale [U/B] 5 ) Intet the Dreamer/Riku of Two Reflections [R/U/G] 6 ) Saffi Eriksdotter/Gaddok Teeg [G/W] 7 ) Savra, Queen of the Golgari [G/B] 8 ) Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund [B/R/G]
I feel like this is a solid number of EDH decks, and would probably max out my capacity at 10 (or 12 to fill two of those large boxes with 6 each). The way I feel about my decks is that by building decks that can use alternate commanders and still function well, allows me adapt my decks to my current mood, and thus makes it seem like I have 12 pseudo decks when I actually only have 8. For example, my No. 1 deck has four potential commanders, all of which feed off of X costs, which lets them function well in the same deck, but also offer completely different strategies, game states, successes and failures. This is what keeps me okay with 8 although, I don't think that's the kind of solution you're looking for, from what I've read. Maybe you should tell us what things you like most about EDH and then we could suggest solutions that reinforce that attraction to the game.

| Great topic. I was seduced by the new FTV: Legends set and just made a Sisay deck. With Elesh Norn and other arguably overpowered legends in the color identity, it can get a little ridiculous.
At first I stressed that my armillary spheres and pilgrim's eyes were being absorbed after building a few EDH decks, I realized I reached deeper in to the bin and experimented with high cost or almost-as-good counterparts (think Ondu giant v Sad Robot).
Another crisis is losing your standard cards in EDH decks. Once I "lost" swords for awhile before remembering some had migrated. Hence, my propensity to rely on cards outside of standard to carry my EDH decks. And some other stuff I was going to say.

| A--That is just naughty; it's even in-color. I love it. I think I should play that exactly once, lest no-one play with me anymore...though maybe no worse than armageddon after dropping an eldrazi (ahem, Abernathy and his durka army!) | |

| I've Culled the Herd.
I only have 6 decks atm.
Seizan (Sign-in-blood-go) Ulamog (BLAAARRRtifact Ramp) Tibor and Lumia (Izzet Spells) Szadek (Mill) Progenitus (Shards Block Funsies) Karondor (Spirit/Arcane)
My plan is to maybe make a deck or two for some of the legends in Pantheon block. We'll See what happens.
What I like about the format: Super SUPER obscure, didn't-see-that-one-coming plays, cards, and combos. I like themes as well and like the build-around pheature of the format. I decided to cut everything that was too "tribal" with no real reason to be. (tariel, edric, Elesh Norn to an extent) And then cut a lot of the ones i just stopped playing because they were too aggressive and i really only had them assembled so others could play them. (Ib Halfheart, Sakashima, Seshiro, Asmira, Ruhan) Also i got rid of Tetsuo because the "Bolas's Bitches" theme was NOT coming across during play and i don't think many people understood what i was going for with it. >< So after all the dust settled i have a few of my personal favorites left and then some that get love from others. It feels so good to not have to worry about how to lug all my decks around anymore!

i like these decks in particular. the spirit/arcane was something i thought about investing in but never had any spare change to build around. i'm glad to see it in your collection.
